Founder & Managing Partner
 

Doug founded Leopard Capital Ltd. in Phnom Penh in 2007 and established Cambodia’s first private equity fund at a time when the country had no private equity industry and no stock exchange.

He raised Leopard Cambodia Fund during the 2008–2009 global financial crisis, securing commitments from ~100 private investors
and deploying capital across financial services, telecommunications, water infrastructure, rural electrification, and beverage producers.

In 2012, Doug conceived and raised Leopard Haiti Fund following the country’s 2010 earthquake, attracting development finance institution backing from IFC (World Bank Group), FMO, and MIF (IDB Group).
The fund was Haiti’s first investment fund.

​

He also served as a Technical Advisor in the establishment of the Cambodia Securities Exchange, and a Trustee of the Center for
Khmer Studies.

​

Doug has represented the Fund on the boards of portfolio companies in Cambodia and Haiti and maintained active governance roles throughout the investment period.
 

Earlier in his career, he held senior positions at CLSA Securities and Crédit Agricole Indosuez WI Carr Securities across Southeast Asia and Latin America.
 

Doug holds a Master of Management from Thailand's Chulalongkorn University and a BA in History from Cornell University.

Lawrence Mackhoul

Managing Partner​

Lawrence joined the firm in 2009 and played a central role in the management of Leopard Cambodia Fund and Leopard Haiti Fund.

​

He previously founded 31.7 Acquisitions, a U.S. real estate investment vehicle that acquired 31 properties and achieved a 26% IRR over five years.

​

Earlier in his career, he held roles at Marriott Hotels and CNN. He holds an MBA from Georgia State University’s Robinson College of Business, a Master d’Administration des Entreprises from Sorbonne Graduate Business School, and a Certificate in International Business from Universidade do Rio de Janeiro.

​

He was raised in Honduras and speaks Spanish, French, Portuguese, and English.
